  2. How many emotion-words can you think of to describe what you drew?

  3. Why do you think your drawing is different from your friends’ drawings?

  4. How do you think this activity will help you understand and interpret your and others’ emotions?

How Does it Work?

As you are growing up and learning new things, so is your brain. The brain is constantly developing, and the biggest part of development occurs from 4-21 years old. The connections in your brain are getting stronger and better every day, and they help you understand things faster (just like how your muscles get stronger and help you run faster). As your brain strengthens, you will continue to understand your own feelings and the feelings of others a lot better. From there, you can talk about your feelings with others and they can tell you about their feelings in return!

Further Exploration:

Communication is key in all types of friendships and relationships. Using communication, you can avoid fighting with your siblings, friends, or parents, because you will be able to talk to them about the things that are bothering you or them. They will have certain reactions that you might not understand, but you can still do your best to understand and help them. There are many things that can cause someone to feel a certain way because they have different feelings than you and express them differently as well, so make sure to always try to be understanding of other people’s feelings and to express your own!

Anticipated Concerns
