School is Out & the Summer is Here! | June 2023

13 Weeks of Summer Annual Fundraiser

We are hosting the 13 Weeks of Summer fundraiser, and hope to reach our fundraising goal over the summer. Meeting this goal will help to ensure that Boundless Brilliance will be able to provide our supplemental STEM educational programs at NO COST to students.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The first 40 people who make a donation of $60 or more will receive a complimentary copy of We Are Brilliant: A Workbook for the Future STEM Workforce, as a thank you gift.

And no STEM activity would be complete without collaboration and competition. You could select which team that you are joining, when making your donation. The teams are as follows:
•    Biology
•    Chemistry
•    Computer Science
•    Earth and Space Sciences
•    Engineering
•    Health Sciences
•    Mathematics
•    Physics

The highest fundraiser(s) in the winning team will receive thank you gifts from our sponsors!

Can we count on your support? Please make a donation today!

Congratulations to The Class of 2023!

The end of each school year is bittersweet for us. We are happy to congratulate the seniors volunteering across our chapters on their graduations, and would like to thank these amazing individuals for their contributions to Boundless Brilliance.

They were able to accomplish this milestone achievement while pursuing their education and giving back to their community. Let's hear it for the Class of 2023!

Westmont College Chapter Update

Westmont College, located in Santa Barbara County, is the newest Boundless Brilliance chapter. The chapter members are highly motivated and productive, and are excited to share the following updates about their chapter:

The Westmont Boundless Brilliance chapter started the semester strong with the addition of new members to all three teams. The Outreach Team continued to work hard at making connections with local schools, especially since this was our first year as an active club at Westmont. By the end of the semester, the Presentations Team was able to give multiple presentations either in-person or virtually! We are so excited to be reaching our local community and continuing to progress as a student organization. Another highlight was our STEAM Showcase hosted on Westmont's campus during I Am Brilliant Week. At the event, Westmont students (including but not limited to Boundless Brilliance members) set up science experiments and activities for local kids to explore. The event was open to the public and the turnout was great! This showed how there is a need for and interest in STEM empowerment in our community, and we are proud to do our part to address this need. We hope to repeat this event next spring and continue it as a tradition.

Overall, everyone involved in Westmont's Boundless Brilliance chapter brought so much hard work, dedication, and patience that helped us get this club started this year. We look forward to continuing with Boundless Brilliance in the years to come!

Occidental College Chapter Update

Occidental College, located in North East Los Angeles County, is the first Boundless Brilliance chapter and remains a very active chapter. The chapter members would like to share the following updates:

The Occidental chapter had a great start to this semester, as we were able to add 20 members to our organization, across all three of our teams. We increased our time in local schools this semester, and our presentations team was able to give 10 presentations to local schools. Additionally, we hosted our own Oxy STEM Night at Arroyo Seco library, where we ran experiments with and gave out books to local future scientists. We are so excited to continue this work next year, and expand even further!

White Papers

Be sure to check out our recently published White Papers!

The first, “The Persisting Gender & Racial Gap in the STEM Field: Understanding How We Got Here, and How Do We Close It,“ can be accessed HERE.

It is our hope that this publication will contribute to improvements and expansion of STEM education for students, particularly those from historically underserved communities, as well as help to diversify the STEM field, so it will truly be reflective of our vision “of STEM leadership that is as diverse as the world in which we live”.

Our second paper, “Inclusive and Accessible STEAM Curriculum: Adjustment Techniques for Students with Cognitive and Physical Differences,” informs on the research and discussions held as part of our Inclusive STEM Initiative for Special Need Learners. That paper can be accessed HERE.

“Money is not the only commodity that is fun to give. We can give time, we can give our expertise, we can give our love, or simply give a smile. What does that cost? The point is, none of us can ever run out of something worthwhile to give.”
— Steve Goodier
“Biologically driven neurological processes and natural curiosity of how the world works make early childhood an optimal time to introduce children to scientific inquiry.”
